Blessing to you all,
Sunday we will read Nehemiah 8:1-3, 5-6, 8-10 and Luke 4:14-21. Interesting reading about the place of Scripture in every day Jewish life before Jesus and after Jesus. Check out the 6 hour reading in the Nehemiah passage and be prepared for Sunday; I get all my cues in ministry from Scripture. Some weep (there will be reasons for the weeping), some fall prostrate on the ground, some sigh and some write poetry about what a Scripture verse means to them.
On Sunday, you will do the latter. So, pick a favorite verse, see the attached document [no document on website -ed.] about types of poetry, write a prayer and pass the whole kit and kaboddle in when I ask you to——PLEASE! But during the sermon we will write some poetry – maybe not by yourself – work with the folks around you; write more than one. I will use the fruits of our labors on Sunday to put together a Lenten Devotional.
Someone is having a birthday cake on Sunday – someone who sits in church and is the first one to speak during Prayers of the People. Her actual birthday is on the 28th.
Have a great weekend.
Peace,
John
