This Sunday we will celebrate the sacrament of baptism as Maxwell Joseph Chiurri will be welcomed into the Christian Church universal.  Max is the son of Sabra Vachon Chiurri and Chris Chiurri.

The scriptures for this Sunday are:  Galatians 1:11-24 and Luke 7:11-17 with a sermon entitled:  “The Story.”

This Sunday the service will have different aspects in it and ALL children and their families are encouraged to attend. There will be things for all to do.  We will also offer Communion and the kids are welcome to partake –  if the parents so choose to have them take it.  I am planning to do and bit of a Children’s Message around the table before Communion is served giving some context and some meaning to this event for children of all ages.  One of the classes will be recapping the story of the passion and the Heifer Team will offer their insights from a recent trip to Overlook Farm.

We will gather in the Fellowship Hall folliwng worship for an ALL-CHURCH pot-luck lunch.  Bring something to share and what we have will be perfect — this should be a great day.

This service will be for all ages and that includes your age.  I hope to see you on Sunday

Rain or shine — I expect that we will celebrate our life together this Sunday in worship.  We will have a baptism and confirmation as two people Trish Burkins and Mackenzie Strum will be joining the church this Sunday. THERE WILL BE CAKE.  The scriptures are:  Romans 5:1-5 and John 16:12-15 with a sermon entitled:  “______ Happens.”

This Sunday is Pentecost Sunday — the birthday of the church.   We will retell the story of the Holy Spirit empowering the young community of Disciples.  We will have a guest preacher this Sunday (I will be assisting). He will be leading worship as he candidates for a pastoral position in a church which is considering calling him.  We will have a search committee from that church present during worship.  Please –  if you connect the dots and determine which church it is — please do not share this information.  Keep the “dots” to yourself.  This is all part of a well-tested process of search and call in the United Church of Christ.  The text will be Acts: 2:1-21 and the sermon is entitled: “Spirit of Creation.” This should be an interesting service.

This Sunday is Communion Sunday (Deacons Fund support) and Blanket Sunday (Church World Service).  I am going to so something about the blanket Sunday offering with the kids during the Children’s message.  It would be good if the kids could have an offering envelope (we will provide them) with a bit of money in it so we can work on the idea of giving to those in need.

This Sunday’s service will focus on Acts 1:1-11 and Luke 24:44-53.  The message will be:  “Three Hurdles.”  In our effort to grow in our faith — we face many hurdles.  We will focus on 3 of them this Sunday as they bubble to the surface in our reading from Acts.

This Sunday Mary Ann Castimore will be leading worship.  The focused text will be Mark 9:2-8 with a message entitled:  “Mountaintop Experiences.”

Mary Ann was gracious enough to accept the Deacon’s invitation to cover for me while I am in Massachusetts with the youth.

Please hold in prayer 7 youth and 4 adults as we visit Heifer Project’s Overlook Farm in Rutland Mass.  We will experience farm life (including chores) and we will learn about hunger issues and how many people have to live in very difficutl circumstances around the world.  Going on the trip are:  Megan Ashley, Trish Burkins, Olivia Kayhart, Jake Markowski, Sara Stearns, Mackenzie Strum, Annika Vorsteveld, Joanie Burmania, Mary Kerr, Barb Ouimette and me.

This Sunday we will have a worship service at 30 South Water Street.  The scriptures are:  Acts 11:1-18 and John 13:31-35 with a Sermon entitled: “Circles of Life.”  We are gong to spend some time delving into “love.”

There is a whole lot of “stuff” going on in people’s lives — so if you have a bit of time just focus a prayer on those who are suffering in different ways — many of them unknown to most of us — but suffering they are.

This Sunday’s Service will focus on Genesis 1 (the first creation story) and the 23rd Psalm.  We will include John 10:22-30 but the sermon will depend more on the Hebrew Texts this week.  The sermon is entitled:  “Who’s World?” Following the service I expect that a few of you will think your pastor has gone off the deep end — maybe that is not a new thought – but it should be an interesting service.

The Addison Association Meeting will be held at the Salisbury Congregational Church on Sunday afternoon beginning at 12:30 and going to about 3:00.  The program will be on “congregational singing.”   If you have an interest in this and a bit of time on Sunday afternoon — please feel invited to join your delegation at the meeting – which includes lunch.

This Sunday the scriptures will be Acts 9:1-20 and John 21:1-19 with a Sermon entitled:  “Way Out.”  Now when one of your friends asks you what the sermon was (I am sure that happens to you all the time) you can honestly say it was “Way Out.”  Some days are easy to ignore — but not today — stay warm and dry.
