Good morning glories!
On Sunday we will have a guest minister (a neutral pulpit) and we will have a church group from the Hnesburg church in attendance to hear the Rev Michele Rogers Brigham preach.  Michele is seeking a call to the Hinesburg church.  So, we will be in the sanctuary to lend a more formal air to the service.
It would be nice if we could have some children here as she is going to have a children’s message, which can be tough if there are no, or very few, children.  Some of the shorter adults might have to fill in.
The sermon, “Caring Neighbors”, is underscored with Colossians 1:1-14 and Luke 10:25-37.
Please come and be a part of the continuing story of Jesus and his disciples.
Also, after a short fellowship time, Chessy Kelley will be here for the 2nd installment of our meditation journey.  Please come!
Stay cool and hydrated.
Peace,
John

Peace to all,

Communion Sunday - 9:30 - IN FELLOWSHIP HALL

“Encountering Others” - 1 Corinthians 11:17-32 and Matthew 25:31-40

There are four words from our Words of Institution that stand out for me: Take, Bless, Break, Give. These words bring us into relationship with Jesus and with each other and, maybe more importantly, with people outside of this church.  “”The supreme religious challenge,” says Rabbi Sacks, “is to see God’s image in one who is not in our image,” for only then can we see past our own reflections in the mirror to the God we did not make up.” (Barbara Bown Taylor, “An Altar in the World”, page 100)

So please come and partake of the meal which Jesus has given to us.

Peace,

John

Good morning Sunshines,
Let me first tell you how great you look from where I sit!
The Last Sunday in June - 9:30 “Splitting Hairs” - reading Mark 12:28-34a and Ephesians 4:1-7.   I am wondering if there is a difference between living for a purpose (finding a purpose in life) or living with purpose.  “Sweet Caroline” knows the answer and you will too - at least from where I sit - which, by the way, did I tell you how good you look?
On the upstairs / downstairs issue - 1 against and three for.  This is not overwhelming, but I think we will start downstairs (the Deacons have ordained this) and see where that takes us.  I can tell you that yesterday it was pretty hot in the sanctuary.
Peace to all this sunny day -
John

Bless you all,

It is nice to see the sun and feel its warmth…you know, what a gift of creation!

Sunday’s Scripture: Genesis 2:1-3, Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 and Mark 2:23-28. Sometimes it is a struggle to get rest, find rest…just to be at rest. Humans seem to go against nature and Jesus…both of whom knew the importance of rest. Shabbot candles and a beautiful flower will tell the story.

Enjoy the sunshine and the peace of Jesus Christ.

Peace,

John

Hello all,

It is official, Gary’s computer is toast…a memorial service will be held on the 12th of Never. Cards and flowers are not appropriate nor are they welcomed. CIS has another machine for us and they can transfer stuff off the old drive on to the new drive. Gary will have to wear a helmet when he uses the new (old) machine as it is much faster than the going-going-gone machine.

Sunday is in two days…Worship Service at 9:30AM.

Genesis 1:3-4a, 10, 12, 17-18, 21, 25, 31 and Genesis 28:10-18. What do you think is a ‘sacred place’? You might be surprised! Jacob found a ‘sacred place’ in the middle of nowhere! We assume that church is a ‘sacred place’ but the Bible is full of stories when God and humans interact and very few of those happen in ‘church’. Can your garden, your car, your cellar, your walk in the woods be a ‘sacred place’?

Chessy Kelly will be here to have a meditation workshop after our fellowship time. Please join in - you do not have to attend all six, but try them on for size.

Peace,

John
